Conferences
Please note that there has been a change in conferences. All conferences will now be in-person. I will be emailing all parents that were scheduled to see me IN-PERSON to confirm our conference link. I believe that you were sent a link automatically when you signed up through google calendar, but I will confirm with everyone.
If you are already scheduled for a virtual conference, nothing has changed!
Please note that on Monday, November 22nd, there will be no school for all elementary schools. In addition, on Tuesday, November 23rd, there will be a delayed opening for morning parent-teacher conferences. Our school day will start at 11:05 a.m..
On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, day-care provisions will be offered at Robinson School from 9:00 A.M. to 11:05 A.M. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis and will be capped at 50 students. A registration form was be sent home on Monday with students. ]
Thank you all for signing up for a conference time with me. Please be patient with me as I navigate the conference links as well as respectful of timing so that I can meet with everyone.
Here is my conference schedule for your reference.
Volunteering
I hope to have a volunteer schedule out for you after the Christmas Break.
Writing
We are continuing to work on writing our own stories with pictures and words. It is really hard for children to take the risk of writing words by listening to the sounds that they hear. Your children are slowly getting comfortable with taking risks and just writing.
This year, I spend a lot of time with reinforcing "Kindergarten Spelling." Spelling does not have to be like the "Dictionary Man". We just need to be able to hear the sounds in the word.
Handwriting
We are moving quickly through our Capital Letters. I am so proud of how hard the kids have been working to form their letters beautifully.
Here is a fun song we have been using to remember where we start writing all of our letters! Where do you start your letters?
Phonics
We will continue to practice rhyming and syllables this week.
We LOVE this syllables video from Scratch Garden!
Lively Letters
Power Words
Last week we practiced the power word I.
Math
Pattern Block Graphing
In this activity, children sorted a collection of pattern blocks by shape, then graphed their data. This was good practice for the children in completing an activity step by step (completing the sort, placing the blocks on the graph, and then recording that information slowly so it is accurate).
Ten Bean Spill
Asked us to think about different combinations of numbers to make 10. It was "magic" when they spilled their beans and some of them were green and some were white!
Science
Continuing our discussion of the Weather this week. We will think about How people stay cool in hot weather as well as what makes storms?
Social Studies
is a great story to share and discuss. It encourages children to think about things that they do and the consequences if everybody did the same thing.
