I hope everyone had a great weekend. I was busy with soccer games and Christmas Tree decorating.
This week will be all about Gingerbread Men!
We will try to read as many versions of the Gingerbread Man story as we can find!
Children will not need to bring blankets for rest anymore.
We are transitioning to a quiet yoga break instead of a rest time.
What are we learning this week?
Writing: The word I must be a capital letter!
Handwriting: Number formation.
Social Studies: Continuing our discussion about community.
Phonics: Syllables Review
Power word: SO
Lively Letters: Super Star u
We will also start with skill groups during our literacy time. Please be on the lookout for some extra practice materials coming home!
Math: Comparing representations and Counting practice to 20.
Science: What makes storms and what people can do to stay safe.
Guidance lesson with Mrs. Rivet.
Reminders:
Please make sure to pack some extra masks for your children. Several in the class use 3 or 4 disposable masks each day. I am concerned that we are going to run out of our supply.
Several kiddos tell us that they are still hungry after they eat their snacks. It would be helpful if you could pack one or two extra things each day. We make sure that things that are not eaten/opened go home with them.
The weather is getting pretty chilly for our morning recess times. Please try to send your child to school with a winter coat, hat and gloves. We are outside everyday unless it is raining or below 20 degrees.
Also, we do try to keep windows open in the classroom as much as possible. It is often chilly in our class. Layers are great so that they don't have to wear their coats in the classroom.
Please send dismissal changes to me through email (and cc Joann Beliveau) or a paper note. Mrs. Allwein and I are the ones responsible to get your children to the correct place at the end of the day. We will forward any information to the office.
