Curriculum this week
Eric Carle
For the month of May, we will explore the work of Eric Carle.
We will:
*learn about and try his painting techniques
*study themes of his stories
*Use his stories to explore living things
Writing: Finishing How-To and Beginning Opinion Writing
We are still working on editing our How-To writing. It is really hard to think about every single step someone would need to know to complete these tasks!!!
Later this week, we will begin our Opinion Writing Unit. We all know that these kiddos have plenty of opinions, now, we will work on writing them down and providing evidence of why we have our opinion!
Handwriting: y, j
These two dropping letters are some of the trickiest letters to write!
Literacy: Power Word MY*We will also be continuing our practice of making words with the lively letters that we have learned.
Math: Measurement
Social Studies: Mother's Day
We will talk about what makes moms special and how we can show them that we love them. Moms, look for a special surprise to come home on Friday!
Science: Push and Pull
This unit has definitely been a challenge to get through. I hope to finish up this week by thinking about how engineers design things that move.
Friendly Reminders:
Orange Folders
Please check your child's folder at the end of each day and take any papers out that do not need to be returned to school.
Please send your child's folder to school each morning.
Water
Please send your child to school with a water bottle each day. We have an extra supply for the occasional forget or emergency. We cannot provide your child with a water each day.
Thank you so much for the generous water donations!
Food
Several students in the class have also been commenting on how hungry they are after eating all of their snack and lunch. We try to have a supply of snacks for the occasional forget and emergency, but we cannot continually give out snacks because the children are still hungry. Please simply pack one or two extra things in lunchbox's so that there is an option for the children if they are still hungry. Also, please make sure your children LIKE what they are expected to eat.
